In this article, we are going to walk you through our first major update since the beginning of 2025, packed with new automations and tons of new additions suggested by our amazing community.
If you want to see all of the new features and improvements in action, we also prepared a video presentation for you:
Passenger Easy Entry
Thanks to the feedback we received from our community over at our Discord channel, we came up with two new automations for which you need only the Commander, and it will work on all Tesla Models.
The first one is triggered when the passenger door opens, and it pulls the seat backward so that your co-pilot can easily enter the car. Once they are in and have their seatbelt buckled, the seat will slide forward to a preassigned position. To activate this automation, you first need to adjust the seat to the desired position. Then, go to the Commander’s tab inside the S3XY App and scroll down until you find Passenger Easy Entry. Once you are inside, you will see two options - Default seat position and Easy Entry position. You need to store both of them so the seat knows where to move to once the passenger is going in or out of the car. And for added safety, we made it so you can choose to automatically disable this feature if someone is sitting in the back seat.
Scroll Wheel Button
The next automation was initially intended for the Model 3 Highland and the newest Model Y Junipers since both of them are missing a right stalk from which to change drive states. So we transferred this option to the right scroll wheel, adding more functionality to it for when you are not in the Autopilot state. Now, every time you scroll up, the car will shift to Drive, and when you scroll down, it will put it in Reverse. You can also add the option to put the car into Park if you press the brake pedal and the scroll wheel at the same time.
Despite our intentions in the beginning, we made this automation accessible for all Tesla Models since we are planning to make it even more customizable in the future, allowing you the options to tweak the levels of the regenerative braking, switch between acceleration modes, and much more.
To enable this automation, once again, go inside the Commander’s tab, select the Scroll Wheel Button feature, and choose your settings.
For those of you who are concerned with your safety and accidentally changing gears and directions mid-drive, keep in mind that this feature is automatically disabled once your speed goes above 3 km/h.
Kickdown Improvements
With this update, we not only added new automations but also improved upon previous ones. For example, the Kickdown allows for an automatic switch between acceleration modes (from Chill to Sport/Standard), depending on how hard you press the acceleration pedal. Before, you had to be in Park to return to your default acceleration mode or step on the Brake pedal, but we made it so your car does it on its own, and that happens thanks to the timer we have added inside the S3XY App. Select your number, and the state will change on its own without you having to do anything.
Ambient Lights Improvement
A few months ago, we made Tesla’s most common alerts reflect on the light strip that comes with the Model 3 Highland and, just recently, the new Model Y Juniper. We also split the light strip into segments. For example, the front part of the ambient light turns solid blue when the Autopilot is activated and blinks when the hands-on-wheel warning (or NAG) is triggered. Another one is Blind Spot Assist, which makes the strip flash red when your turn signal is activated, and a car approaches you from the side you are turning into.
With update 5.4.1, we give you the option to add customizations to all of these warnings. To access them, open the S3XY App and navigate to the Commander’s tab, where all of the automations are. Scroll down, and near the bottom of the page, select Ambient Light Effects. Inside, you will see the alerts that are currently available. Press on the one you want, and all customizations will be displayed in a drop-down menu. You can select the color and brightness of the ambient light, but the best part is that you can choose which zones in your car to flash when the alert is activated - whether it’s the front or rear doors, the front dash, or a left/right split.
Let’s say you want to customize the Autopilot. You can set the dash to turn solid blue (and slightly dimmed) when Autosteer is engaged. When the hands-on-wheel warning is triggered, you can have the front doors and dash blink brighter in blue to get your attention.
New Actions added to the S3XY Knob
With each update, features that have been previously accessible only through the S3XY Buttons have also been implemented into the Knob, and this one is no exception.
This time, we are giving you better control over your wipers. Before, you could only adjust their speed by 1 with every rotation of the dial. Now, you have the added option to program a single wipe and/or activate the washers by assigning them to the side buttons.
The third action we included in the Knob is the Strobe Lights which flash the high beams anywhere from 2 to 10 times to signal at the driver in front of you.
Knob Custom Home Page
You can also select which of the Knob’s pages to assign as your custom home page. Here is how it works. Let’s say you selected the second page of your Knob to be your main one, and you executed an action that is located on the first or third page. After a few seconds of inactivity (which could be set via the S3XY App), the Knob automatically returns to the page you have assigned as your custom home page. That way, you can always know where to start from, sparing you extra glance at the Knob.
Filter and Search Bar inside the S3XY App
The S3XY App manages all of our products, features, automation, and stats developed over the past four years. Since we support all Tesla models except the Cybertruck and legacy Model S and X, the app includes over 100 actions, dozens of stats, and numerous automations. With so many features, navigation became challenging.
To make the App more intuitive, we’ve introduced a filter that displays the features available for your specific Tesla model. If you ever need to switch, simply tap the icon in the top right corner to see the available options for all models. And if you're looking for a specific action, the new search bar we included at the top lets you quickly find what you need by typing relevant keywords that best describe the feature you are looking for.
Navigating the App in Your Native Language
Since we have users from all around the world, another significant change was removing the language barrier so that the app is easy to use no matter in which country you reside. To change the language, tap on the gear icon at the top right corner, select Change Language, and choose from over 19 different options.
Now is the perfect time to thank our amazing community on our Discord channel for their great contribution to translating the app to their native language!
HUD Setting inside the S3XY Dashboard
A few months back, we introduced the HUD setting of our S3XY Dashboard, which displays driving information on your front windshield when you place your phone underneath it. It’s a great option during night drives. However, we received feedback from our users about poor visibility due to the size of the numbers, so we went back to the drawing board to fix the issue. We also added the option to customize the brightness and the size of the digits by swiping across the screen.
